On a sweltering summer day in Ahmedabad last year, an eight-year-old Anita Solanki’s journey with school started when a bright yellow bus pulled into her impoverished neighborhood. Enrolling in conventional schools after completing a bridging course from 12 buses that serve as “Signal Schools” is the fate of about 415 impoverished or homeless children, like Anita, who had either never attended school or were forced to drop out.

These buses, which are operated by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), are designed to collect and return street children, who range in age from six to fourteen, between seven and eight in the morning. A micro fan, drinking water, an LCD television, CCTV cameras, educational toys, basic furniture, an LCD board, and even WiFi are included with every bus.https://www.indiatoday.in/magazine/good-news/story/20240129-signal-schools-transport-with-care-2490702-2024-01-19?utm_source=washare&utm_medium=socialicons&utm_campaign=shareurltracking
